Didier Zokora Ivory Coast kit
Didier Zokora started his professional football career in Ivory Coast in 1999. His fantastic abilities ensured that he secured a transfer to a European club, being KRC Genk from Belgium, in the year 2000. This club helped Zokora improve his talents and modify them to suit the European style of play. In 2004, he moved to French club Saint-Etienne where he played for two seasons, making 66 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
In 2006, speculation was rife about Didier Zokora.s future. Everything pointed to the possibility that he leaves Saint-Etienne to join a European super-power. Arsenal were the favourites to secure his signature. However, the Gunners moved for another Ligue 1 player (Abou Diaby) rather than the speculated Zokora. This put Manchester United in pole position to sign the prized midfielder. Tottenham won the race to sign the Ivorian midfielder for £8.6 million on the 30th June 2006. Due to the huge rivalry between Tottenham and Arsenal, Zokora became a fans. favourite easily due to the fact that he chose Tottenham rather than the Gunners. Zokora is yet to score a goal for the Spurs.
