Yaya Toure spent his developmental years at the ASEC Mimosas youth academy in his country of birth, Cote d'Ivoire. In 2001 he moved to Europe where he plied his trade at a number of clubs including; Beveren, Metalurh Donetsk, Olympiacos & Monaco before joining La Liga giants Barcelona in 2007 for a transfer fee of €9million. The tall and powerful midfielder amassed a total of 118 appearances for the Catalan side, scoring 4 goals in the process. During his time at Barcelona he helped the team win the UEFA Champions league title, FIFA Club World Cup, two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey & the UEFA Super Cup.
In July 2010 Yaya joined his brother Kolo Toure at Manchester City where he has become an integral part of Roberto Mancini's set up. His goal scoring ability from midfield was demonstrated in the latter stages of the 2010/11 FA cup where he scored the only goal of the match in their semi-final clash with neighbors and arch-rivals Manchester United. He repeated the feat in the final by scoring the winning goal to secure the FA Cup for the club in their 1-0 win over Stoke City.
Standing at 6ft 2inches tall Yaya is one of the most consistent performers in the English Premier League and is often rated as one of the best midfielders in the world. His exploits have not been limited to club football and he is also a force on the world stage. He has scored nine goals for the Cote d'Ivoire in 58 appearances until 2012 African Nations Cup.
