Wigan Athletic Football
Wigan Athletic, nicknamed the Latics were formed in 1932 and play at the 24,826 capacity all seater JJB Stadium in Wigan, England.
They made it into the Football League in 1978 as Northern League Champions, but it took twenty five years to bust out of the lower leagues and two promotions in three years saw the team make it to the Premiership, were they made an impressive start to the debut season.
Much of this was made possible by the funding of the club by former Blackburn Rovers player, Dave Whelan, who broke his leg in the 1960 FA Cup final and the managerial skills of Paul Jewell.
Wigan wear blue and white striped home shirts with bluer shorts and white socks. The away shirt is gold with black sleeves, coupled with black shorts and gold socks.
