Villarreal CF Football
Villarreal Club de Futbol SAD commonly known as Villarreal, were founded in 1923, they play their home games at the 23,000 all seater capacity El Madrigal Stadium in Vila-real, in the Spanish La Liga. It wasn't until 1998 that Villarreal were first promoted to Spain's top division, they only managed one season there though before falling back to the 2nd division. They bounced back at the first attempt and now Villarreal have secured top flight status and are impressing in European competition.
Qualifying for the 2003/04 UEFA Cup via the Intertoto, Villarreal reached the semis of the competition only to lose to local rivals and eventual winners of the Cup Valencia, further Spanish league success, meant qualification for UEFA's top competition, the Champions League.
Home shirts for Villarreal are yellow, with yellow shorts and socks making up the kit, away from home it is black shirts, shorts and socks. Famous players to have pulled on the kit include; Diego Forlan, Juan Roman Riquelme, Martin Palermo, Sonny Anderson and Juan Pablo Sorin.
