Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is a Dutch football player who currently plays for Scottish Premier League Club Celtic. He plays in the position of striker. His name is one of the longest in European football and derives from two families which carried equal social weight and rather than choose one name, they chose to use both.
Vennegoor of Hesselink started his career at FC Twente where he spent 5 years (1996-2001).He became the club.s top scorer. He made 160 appearances and 64 goals leading him to get interest from PSV Eindhoven. In fact, the latter secured his signing in 2001 and during his five year spell at the Dutch club, he made 187 appearances and 90 goals.
His performances for PSV attracted Scottish outfit Celtic to sign the Dutch striker and he immediately became a valuable goal-scoring player for the team, netting 36 goals in 57 matches.
Vennegoor of Hesselink has also performed with the Dutch National Team in 13 matches and managed to find the net no more than 3 times. He scored against Thailand, Croatia and Austria.
