Venezia Football

S.S.C. Venezia is an Italian club from Venice in the Veneto region. It was founded in 1907 when two clubs, Palestra Marziale and Costantino Reyer, joined forces to form the team. During the team.s history, Venezia have always been going up and down the top divisions of Italian football. The last time they were in Serie A was in 2002.

The glorious time of Venezia were the 1940s when the team won the Coppa Italia in 1940/41 and ranked third in Serie A in 1941/42. In more recent times, the club has encountered several financial problems, due to their relegation from Serie A in 2002. The owners were not happy with the return on investment they were getting and with the difficulties in agreeing with the Venetian local council to build a new stadium. Therefore, the then-Chairman Maurizio Zamparini bought another club, Palermo, and took with him a number of players. In 2005, Venezia were declared bankrupt and relegated from Serie B.

A few notable players that played for Venezia are Flavio Roma, Christian Vieri, Massimo Taibi, Alvaro Recoba, and Filippo Maniero. Venezia currently play in the Serie C1/A which is the third highest division in Italian football. They are managed by Giancarlo Corradini and play their games in 10000-capacity Pierluigi Penzo stadium. The only way to get to this stadium is with a boat. Their home kit is all-black with green and orange trimmings.
