Robin van Persie is a Dutch footballer who plays for Manchester United having previously played for Arsenal and Feyenoord. Van Persie is most notably known for his world class finishing abilities and he was the key player for Manchester United in the 2012-13 season which saw him win his first Premier League title. His Manchester United shirt was the top seller in the Premier League in the 2012-13 season.
Robin Van Persie was born on the 6th of August 1983 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Van Persie started his footballing career in Rotterdam, firstly with Excelsior Rotterdam and then onto Feyenoord where he stared for their youth teams. Due to his good performances with the youth team he got called up to the Dutch U-19 and U-21 national teams. He made his first team debut for Feyenoord in Jan 2002 and never looked back.
His good form with Feyenoord sparked interest from a host of clubs including Sevilla, Werder Bremen, Rangers and fellow Dutch rivals PSV. But interest from Arsenal and the attraction of playing under Wenger proved to much of a good offer for Van Persie to turn down with Arsenal splashing £3million for his signature. His Arsenal career so far has been a bit up and down due to a lot of lengthy injuries never really allowing him to have a good run in the team. Although in his first season he did manage 40 appearances, scoring 10 goals along the way. Van Persie managed to score over 130 goals for the Gunners in 277 matches before his move to rivals Manchester United.
His international career also took off while at Arsenal with Van Persie playing a part in Holland's World Cup campaign which ended in defeat to Portugal in the later stages of the competition. If van Persie manages to keep clear of injuries he has the ability and the potential to go on and be a big player for both Holland and Arsenal.
