Stoke City Football
Stoke City were formed in 1863 making it one of the first clubs to be formed in world football. They were originally called Stoke Football Club but their name was changed to todays in 1925. Stoke who are called the Potters after the local industry, play their home games at the 28,380 capacity Britannia Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent, one of the newer stadiums in England.
Stoke play in a home kit consisting of a red & white vertical-striped shirt with white shorts and white socks. The away strip is a striking white and black shirt with black shorts and socks. Stoke's colours have held aloft the League Cup in 1972 and been to three FA Cup semi-finals, but not made the big final yet. Some famous names have donned the red and white shirt but we have singled out perhaps the greatest in Sir Stanley Matthews who played for city from 1932-1947 and then again between 1961-1965.
