Southend United Football Club have the nickname of the Shrimpers and were formed in 1906, they are an English football team who play their home games at the 12,300 capacity Roots Hall Stadium in Prittlewell, in the Borough of Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Southend play their home games in an all blue strip which led to their other nickname of the blues. The away kit is white shirts with blue sleeves, white shorts and blue socks. The shirt has been donned by some notable players such as: Neville Southall, Stan Collymore, Ronny Whelan and Peter Taylor who was better known for his managerial prowess, including his coaching of the England u21 team. Perhaps the most memorable event to-date for the club was in November 2006 when they beat Manchester United who had 10 international players on the pitch, 1-0 in the League Cup 4th round.
