The Bafana Bafana as the South African football team are known to their fans played their first international against Holland in 1924, the Dutch won the game 2-1 in Amsterdam.
Years of apartheid saw South Africa banned from appearing on the international stage, but with that system being banished to the history books from 1991, the South African team played Cameroon on the 7th of July 1992 for their first match in two decades, winning 1-0.
