Scunthorpe United Football
Scunthorpe United, formerly known as Scunthorpe and Lindsey United, have been around since 1899, but did not join the football league until 1950. Scunthorpe originally played their home games at the Old Showground, moving in 1988 to the 9,200 capacity Glanford Park stadium in North Lincolnshire.
Scunthorpe play their home games in kit of claret and blue shirts with claret shorts and socks. The away strip is all black. One famous past player is Kevin Keegan, the former Liverpool and England striker who began his career with Scunthorpe during the late 1960s, other names who have worn the Scunthorpe claret shirt are Ray Clemence, Peter Beagrie and cricketer Ian Botham who played with United to get fit for cricket following an injury.
