Saracens Rugby

The Saracens Club, based in St Albans, was established in 1876, and has been one of the strongest clubs in the English game in recent years, having thoroughly and successfully embraced Rugby’s move to full-professionalism.

Saracens play in a kit that is predominantly black, with their shirt featuring red highlights. Their logo is a red star and a crescent that has featured on their jerseys ever since the first time the team took the field in 1876 at Primrose Hill. The club enjoyed its most successful season to date in 2010/11 when it was crowned the Aviva Premiership Champions, with the Brendan Venter-coached side beating the Leicester Tigers 22-18 in the final.

Boasting some of England’s finest young talent, including Chris Ashton, Owen Farrell and Alex Goode, Saracens has also hosted some highly acclaimed international players in recent years, including legends such as Wallaby fly-half Michael Lynagh, French great Philippe Sella and World Cup winning Springbok captain Francois Pienaar. That list also includes home-grown heroes like Jason Leonard, Richard Hill and Danny Grewcock, while prominent New Zealanders including Chris Jack, Justin Marshall and Taine Randall have all spent time at the London club.
