Rushden and Diamonds were formed in 1992 through the merger of Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds their roots therefore go back to 1889 and the forming of Rushden Town, prior to the merger the clubs were purchased by Max Griggs, the owner of the Dr Martens shoe company. The Diamonds or Russians as they are nicknamed play their home games in the 6,440 capacity Nene Park in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire.
Rushden & Diamonds play their home games in kit of red shirts, shorts and socks, with the away being blue shirts, shorts and socks. The red strip is yet to feature in any giant killing acts or to have been donned by any famous players of note.
