Jack Christian Rodwell is an exciting young midfielder who plays for Everton in the English Premier League and has already represented England at senior international level. Born in Southport on the 11th March 1991, Rodwell was an Everton fan from the start.
This fact may explain why he has only ever played for Everton, not a bad option at all when you consider how well they have facilitated his development. Joining at the age of 7 Rodwell made his debut for the U-18 team at 14, and his first reserve appearance just one year later. Aged 16 he broke the record (at that time) for the youngest player to ever represent Everton in European competition when he came off the bench to face AZ from the Netherlands.
On 17 March 2008 Jack signed his first professional contract and was awarded a start later that year against Blackburn Rovers. 2009 bought with it Rodwell's first goal which came in a FA Cup tie against Aston Villa. Shortly after he put pen to paper and signed a 5 year contract with the Toffees.
Rodwell's international career has run parallel to his development at Everton. He has represented England at U-17, 17, 19, & U-21 level before pulling on the three lions shirt for the senior team in November 2011. His debut came in a win 1-0 against reigning FIFA World Cup Champions Spain.
