Nigel Reo-Coker started his professional football career at Wimbledon between 2002 and 2004 where he made 58 appearances and scored 6 goals. After impressing in the 2003-04 season, he was signed in the 2004 January transfer window by Premiership club West Ham.
He played very regularly for West Ham and was eventually named captain by his then manager Alan Pardew. He made 120 appearances and scored 11 goals for West Ham. After a bad start to the 2006-07 season, he was blamed for this drop in form (due to being captain) and the only way out was to leave the Hammers.
He joined Aston Villa for £8.5 million in Summer 2007. On some occasions, he was also named captain for the Villans. Despite playing for the U21 England side, Reo-coker has not yet proven his abilities to be chosen for the England senior team.
