Reggina Calcio is an Italian professional football club based in the Italian City of Reggio Calabria. The club was founded in 1914 and play their home games at Stadio Oreste Granillo, Reggio Calabria. They are currently playing in the Serie A. They are affectionately known as Amaranto due to their home kits as they play in dark red shirts and shorts.
Lately Reggina have been involved in the scandal which rocked Italian football and were initially docked 15 points but later on this was reduced to 11 points. Eventhough they were penalised, Reggina still managed to save themselves from relegation. They did this thanks to a win over then fresh European Champions AC Milan on the last matchday of the Serie A. Reggina's fiercest rivals are Messina.
Reggina's most notable former players include Rolando Bianchi, Emiliano Bonazzoli, Davide di Michele, Mohammed Kallon, Shunsuke Nakamura, Andrea Pirlo, Jorge Vargas, Massimo Taibi and Simone Perrota.
