Raul Gonzalez is a striker who has played for Spanish club Real Madrid during the entirety of his career. During his youth career, Raul actually spent a period of time at Atletico Madrid between 1990/92. However in 1992, Raul moved to Real Madrid where he scored 16 goals in nine matches for the C team. This helped the striker get quickly promoted to the first team during the same season. At the age of just 17, Raul scored nine goals in 28 appearances to help Madrid win the league title. Over the next eight seasons, he won three more La Liga titles and three Champions League titles. His record in the Champions League is sensational and he is the current appearances record holder (128) and leading goalscorer (66).
Over the years, Raul has formed deadly partnerships with Fernando Morientes and Ronaldo to help Madrid stay as one of the most illustrious teams in the world. In 2003, he became the full time club captain after Fernando Hierro left. Another distinction in Raul's remarkable career is that he has never received a red card in fifteen years as a professional. All in all, he has 321 goals in his Madrid career which beats the long standing record from Alfredo di Stefano. 226 of them goals have come in La Liga where he is currently 4th on the all time list for the division.
Raul's career at international level is just as impressive. The striker first appeared in national colours at the 1995 FIFA Youth World Championships where he scored twice. His full international debut arrived in October 2006 in a friendly against Czech Republic. He appeared in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups along with being Spain's leading striker at Euro 2000 and 2004. He took the captaincy in 2002 but he has not been picked for international duty since a shock 3-2 defeat away to Northern Ireland in 2006. The striker has made 102 appearances for his country which is a national record for outfield players. He also has the national goalscoring record with 44 goals for Spain.
