Grzegorz Rasiak Poland kit
Grzegorz Rasiak is a striker who is currently playing for Reading in the Championship. The forward's early career saw him register as a fairly prolific striker in Poland. In September 2004, Rasiak moved to Derby County for a free transfer. In his first season at the club, he managed an impressive 16 goals in 35 matches as Derby finished 4th in the Championship. Due to Derby's failure to gain promotion, they were forced to sell to balance the books. As a result, Rasiak made a big move to Tottenham in the Premier League for £3 million. However, the move proved a disaster as the striker failed to score for the club. Just six months later, he was loaned out to Championship club Southampton before the move became permenant in the summer of 2006.
The beginning of the 2006/07 season saw Rasiak notch 17 goals by mid January. However, despite lost his place shortly afterwards to fellow countryman Marek Saganowski, Rasiak still finished the season as club top goalscorer with 21 league goals. In January 2008, Rasiak earned a loan move to Bolton due to Southampton's deepening financial crisis. Like during his time with Tottenham, the forward failed to score during his eight league appearances. At the start of the 2008/09 campaign, Rasiak again moved on loan, this time to Championship club Watford. He scored eight goals during his 21 league appearances and the club tried to sign him on a permenant at the end of the season. However, the Hornets and the Saints were unable to reach an agreement. Nevertheless, Rasiak did seal a move to Reading on a permenant deal in August 2009. The forward has currently scored six league goals in 18 appearances.
Rasiak has also made numerous appearances for the Polish national team. The striker made his debut in 2002 in a friendly against the Faroe Islands. He then had to wait a year for his next appearance before becoming a regular in the Poland team. Rasiak has made 37 appearances for his country with eight goals to his name. He was also part of the team that qualified and was selected to play at the 2006 World Cup. However, his international career has stalled since and he was not named in the 23 man squad to play at Euro 2008.
