Queen of the South Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Dumfries. The Doonhamers, as they are called, are currently playing in the Scottish First Division. The club was founded in March 1919 by an amalgamation of three Dumfries clubs - Dumfries F.C, The 5th Kings Own Scottish Borderer's Football Team and (works side) Arrol-Johnston. They joined the Scottish Football league at it's lowest level (Third Division) in 1923/24 and earned promotion to the First Division ten years later. Since then, the team was relegated and promoted again on several occasions.
They won Second Division in 1950/51 and 2001/02, Scottish League Challenge Cup (2002/03), Scottish Qualifying Cup (1923/24), Western League (1922/23) and more than ten Regional Cups (Southern Counties Charity Cup, Southern Counties Cup, Southern Counties League Cup, Potts Cup).
Home matches are played at Palmerston Park, which has capacity of 6412. Home kit consist of blue shirt and socks and white shorts, while away matches are played in yellow shirts and socks and blue shorts.
