New England Patriots Football
The New England Patriots, or Pats as they are often called are a professional American football team based in Foxborough, Massachusetts, they were formed in 1960, when they were known as the Boston Patriots, taking their present name when they moved to Foxborough in 1971. They compete in the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Playing their home games in the 68,700 capacity Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Patriots Post Season Record
The Patriots have a proud record, having reached the playoffs four times before appearing in Super Bowl XX in January 1986. This Super Bowl appearance resulted in a loss to the Chicago Bears. The team also appeared in Super Bowl XXXI in 1997, losing to the Green Bay Packers. Things improved dramatically more recently as they have now between 2001 and 2004, became the second team in NFL history (after the Dallas Cowboys) to win three Super Bowls in four years (Super Bowl XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XXXIX), and the eighth (and to date, most recent) to win consecutive Super Bowls. Their dominance in the early part of the decade will be a hard act to follow.
New England's Colours & Jerseys
The Patriots primary colours as you would probably expect from their name are red, white and blue. Hence the home strip is blue shirts with white pants and red trim, and the away shirt is white. The side also have an alternate home shirt in silver. The helmet is silver with a red face guard and the logo is a patriots head complete with blue and red hat with a star in white.
