Oxford United Football
Oxford United were formed as amateur club Headington in 1893, who were elected to the Southern League and became professional in 1949. In 1960 the name was changed to Oxford United. The 'U' as they are called play their home games in the Kassam Stadium in Oxford with a capacity of 12,500.
United play their home games in strip of all yellow, with the away colours being all white. The yellow Ocford shirt has a chequered history as the club went from old fourth division to old first in jus 20 years, won the League Cup in 1986, but then dropped down the leagues and out of the football league to the Conference, they are the first team that has won a major trophy to drop out of the football league.
