David Nugent England kit
An interesting fact is that David Nugent started his career as a goalkeeper in his youth at the Liverpool youth academy. However, he changed to an attacking position when he signed his first professional contract at Bury in 2002.
In 2005, he left Bury and signed for Championship side Preston North End, appearing 112 times and scoring a staggering 61 goals. With this goal tally, it was impossible to go unnoticed by the Premiership managers. He was signed by Portsmouth in 2007 for £6 million.
Although he was purchased as a goal-machine, he is yet to score a single goal in his Pompey career. Nugent has had good start to his international career, managing to score on his international debut against Andorra. At the age of 22, Nugent has plenty of time to improve and show his abilities to new England manager Fabio Capello, to earn a place in the England starting line-up.
