Men’s Newcastle United Shirt

The Magpies have had great home shirts in their time and one of the best was the one used in 1993 where they sponsor merged well with the black and white stripes, a true eye catcher in that era. Newcastle are one of several European teams to utilise black and white stripes in their shirts. Other clubs which have used this include Juventus, Udinese and Notts County.

Newcastle’s colours at the outset was generally the home kit of Newcastle East End F.C., comprising plain red shirts with white shorts and red socks. In 1894 the club adopted the black and white striped shirts, which had been used as the reserve team’s colours.

Newcastle United were formed in 1881 and turned professional in 1889. Newcastle have two nicknames, the Toon and the Magpies, the latter gained when a pair of magpies nested at Newcastle’s St James Park ground. The magpies has won 1 Premier League title achieved in the 1994/95 season.

The Magpies have had their fair share of famous managers with Jack Charlton in 1984, Ossie Ardiles 1991-1992, Kevin Keegan 1992-1997, Kenny Dalglish 1997-1998, Ruud Gullit 1998-1999 and Sir Bobby Robson 1999-2004. The most expensive player to wear the Newcastle shirt is firm fan-favourite Alan Shearer bought for 15 million from Blackburn Rovers in July 1996. Apart from Alan Shearer, Newcastle have had some famous players wearing the shirt, some of whom were Kevin Keegan, Paul Gascoigne, Peter Beardsley and Les Ferdinand.
