Liverpool Football Club play in the Premier League and are currently the second most successful English club in terms of league titles with 18, behind Manchester United with 20. Liverpool play at Anfield in Liverpool and wear red shirts with white detailing and red shorts and socks which are manufactured by Warrior Sports who have produced their shirts for three seasons while their shirts are sponsored by Standard Chartered. The club's away shirt comprises of mustard yellow and red colours while their third shirt is black, dark grey and red.
Liverpool play their home games in kit comprising of shirts which are all red with gold trim, hence the nickname. Many famous players have pulled on the shirt, such as; Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish, Kevin Keegan, Graeme Souness, John Aldridge, Michael Owen, Ray Clemence and Steven Gerrard. The Liverbird was re-introduced on the shirts replacing the Liverpool crest. Current captain Steven Gerrard has become arguably the best ever player to play for Liverpool.
Liverpool were formed in 1892, however they would never have existed apart from an argument over a new ground which, saw the side split into the Everton and Liverpool we have today. The owner of the ground could not secure the name of Everton, the part of Liverpool they were in so took the name of the city.
