Philipp Lahm Germany kit

Lahm is a world-class full-back for Bayern Munich, known for his exploits and trademark attacking style for Germany in international tournaments. He began his career for his hometown club Bayern, pl aying through their youth system and receiving rave reviews at every level he played at. He made his debut for the senior team in the 2002-2003 season, but was sent on loan to VfB Stuttgart for two seasons after that. Lahm played well for Stuttgart, however injuries interrupted his second season there, and he eventually went back to Bavaria.

During this period on loan, Lahm made his full international debut for Germany against Croatia in 2004, aged 20. He started every game for Germany in Euro 2004, and was touted for great things. Injuries hampered his progress at Bayern, but he eventually broke into the first team in 2006. Over the next few seasons, Lahm produced some brilliant football – at left-back and at right-back – winning the Bundesliga and German Cup five times in the 2000s, with one Runners-Up medal in the 2010 Champions League. In 2011 Lahm was appointed captain at Bayern Munich.

Lahm has continued to impress in the German national side. He started the 2006 World Cup at home in Germany with a bang, scoring the opening goal against Costa Rica. He had a magnificent tournament at Euro 2008 as Germany lost the final, and he filled in as captain for the injured Michael Ballack as he lead a young German team to the semi-finals in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He has since retained the national side captaincy, and remains one of the classiest defenders in world football.
