Tomasz Kuszczak of Poland was scouted by Manchester United whilst plying his trade at West Bromwich Albion in 2005. After the Baggies turned down three offers for the 1.91m goalkeeper Manchester United eventually got their man on the 10th August 2006. Since then Kuszczak has only managed to average 500 minutes of game time per season due to being United's second or third choice keeper behind the likes of Edwin van der Sar, Ben Foster & David de Gea. Tomasz has represented his native country Poland in ten fixtures; however his lack of club football and injury has restricted his international opportunities.
Aged 18 Kuszcack joined Hertha BSC and spent four years at the German club before he was released after not playing a single game in the Bundesliga. In 2004 English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion offered a lifeline to the Polish keeper. On the penultimate day of the 2004/05 season Tomasz put in one of his finest keeping performances against current club Manchester United. Coming off the bench for the injured Russell Hoult and with his team 1-0 down, he put in a man of the match performance by keeping a clean sheet whilst a teammate scored an equaliser to finish the match 1-1 and to help West Bromwich Albion avoid relegation.
