Kieran Richardson England kit
Kieran Richardson is a right winger who is currently playing at Sunderland in the Premier League. At the age of 17, Richardson went to West Ham to train professionally and even made his debut for the Hammers. However, in 2001, the winger was signed by Manchester United. He failed to make his debut with the team during that year and spent time progressing in the reserves. Richardson's debut arrived in October 2002 during the Champions League encounter against Olympiakos where he came on as a substitute. Overall, he made nine appearances that season scoring one goal for the first team.
The 03/04 campaign was even more disappointing for Richardson as the winger only made three appearances for the first team. None of these appearances were in the Premier League either. Nevertheless, Richardson became more involved throughout the first half of the 04/05 season with nine appearances and one goal. However, he was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion for the rest of the campaign to gain match experience. Richardson was a huge factor in the Baggies surviving relegation as he scored three goals in 12 appearances from the centre of midfield. Nevertheless, he declined a further loan at the Hawthorns in order to try to win a place in the United team for the 05/06 season. His theory worked as Richardson made 36 appearances and scored six goals in his most impressive campaign to date.
However, the 06/07 season proved to be a disaster for the winger as he made fewer appearances and shouldered the blame for several poor performances in the Cup competitions. In July 2007, Richardson moved to Sunderland who was then managed by his former United captain Roy Keane for a fee in the region of £5.5 million. An injury soon into his Sunderland career kept him out for four months. Upon his return, he put in some good performances and got on the score-sheet in several matches before another injury kept him out. The 08/09 campaign saw Richardson play his best football which helped link him to moves to Bolton and Newcastle in the transfer window. His performances helped Sunderland stay in the Premier League after a late slump following manager Ricky Sbragia's departure. Richardson has seen himself deployed in a number of midfielder roles under manager Steve Bruce during the 09/10 campaign to date.
