Jermaine Jenas England kit

Jermaine Jenas was born on the 18th February 1983 in Nottingham, England. Jenas made his way through the Nottingham Forest youth academy. He was handed his first team debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup at the tender age of 17. It was clear from a young age that Jenas had talent with his excellent passing range accompanied by his athleticism. It didn.t take long for Jenas to attract the attention of the Premiership scouts looking in. Newcastle United manager Bobby Robson must.ve seen great potential in the youngster by making him British footballs second most expensive teenager when he splashed £5million to take Jenas to St James.

In his first full season with the Magpies he managed to score 7 goals in 32 appearances and also got his first taste of European football. Jenas continued to progress at Newcastle but started to struggle for form during much of the 2005-06 campaign. Rumours started to spread that summer of Jenas. possible departure from Newcastle stating that he was tired of living in a .goldfish bowl. on Tyneside. Tottenham Hotspurs then came knocking and Newcastle accepted a bid of between £8million and £9million.

His first season at Spurs was a good one scoring 7 goals in 36 appearances under Martin Jol. His performances started to attract the attention of the then England manager Sven Goran Eriksson who included Jenas in the squad for the World Cup although he didn.t get to make an appearance but this would have been a great experience for him.

His fine form then continued in the 2006/07 season with 8 goals in 34 games. Juande Ramos then replaced Jol as spurs manager but the Spaniard has included Jenas in every Spurs game so far and is seen as a vital part of the team.

Jenas also started against Switzerland in the friendly at Wembley where Capello took his first game in charge. Jenas repaid Capellos faith in him scoring his first international goal in the 2-1 victory over the Swiss. If Jenas can continue his current form then there is no reason that he cant be a big player for England in the upcoming campaigns.
