Independiente Football
Club Atletico Independiente de Avellaneda is an Argentinean football club based in Avellaneda part of the Gran Buenos Aires area of Argentina. They formed in 1905 and play their home games at the 52,823 capacity Estadio Libertadores de America located metres from big rivals Racing Club who they play in the Avellaneda derby.
The third most succesful Argentine club known as the Kings of Cups (Rey de Copas) or the Red Devils (los Diablos Rojos) many famous Argentinean greats have worn Independiente's red shirt.
Independiente's original kit was white shirts and shorts, club president Aristides Langone saw British side Nottingham Forest's red kit and choose to change his team's to match they wore it for the first time in 1908.
Nowadays the club's home kit is red shirts, red socks and blue shorts. The away strip is white & blue halved shirts, dark blue shorts and dark blue socks.
