Hajduk Split Football
Hajduk Split is a very popular Croatian club which is based in the city of Split. The club was founded in 1911 by a group of students from the city. The first period of success came in the late 1920s when Hajduk won two Yugoslav Championships. Since then, the team has triumphed 9 times in the Yugoslav league, 6 times in the Croatian league (since the Croatian league was formed in 1991).
Besides this, Hajduk won the Yugoslav Cup 9 times and the Croatian Cup 4 times. The team traditionally plays in white shirts and blue shorts. The club.s stadium is the Poljud Stadium, which has a capacity of 35000. The team is managed by former Croatian footballer Robert Jarni. The team.s most notable players are ex-Juventus player Igor Tudor (who is currently captain) and Latvian leading top-scorer Maris Verpakovskis.
