Steven Gerrard is an English central midfielder and he is most notably known for being one of Liverpool's greatest ever players. Born in Merseyside, Gerrard has helped his club to several prestigious titles including the 2005 UEFA Champions League, two FA Cups and three League Cups as well as three FIFPro World XI's and the 2006 PFA Players' Player of the Year. Steven Gerrard was born on 30th May 1980 in Whiston, England and currently plays for Liverpool football club. The six foot one inch midfielder began his career at Liverpool in 1989 as a youngster, turning professional in 1998, making his first appearance against Blackburn Rovers as a second half substitute. He now wears the number eight shirt for the club, as well as the captains armband on his sleeve.
Impressive displays for his club saw Gerrard make his international debut in 2000, he scored his first goal for England, in the famous 5-1 victory over Germany in Berlin. Stevie G had the opportunity to captain England when regular captain David Beckham was absent.
Gerrard won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2001, then in 2005 after captaining Liverpool to a Champions League success in a comeback win against AC Milan, Gerrard was named the UEFA Champions League Most Valuable Player 2004-05. Further accolades came in 2006 as Steve was the PFA Players Player of the Year.
