World Cup 2010: Argentina 2010/12 Away Kit

Posted on February 7th, 2010 in Argentina by reddevilrooney

The Argentines have unveiled their home shirt for the upcoming World Cup back in November. In December, we brought you a leaked picture of what could be the new away shirt of the Albicelestes. Now, we can confirm that what we brought you in December is the real thing that Diego Armando Maradona’s team will wear in the upcoming World Cup. Argentina, which won the World Cups of 1978 and 1986 as well as 14 times the Copa America, will play in Group B in the upcoming summer tournament. Their opponents are relatively weaker than the array of players available for Maradona. They will face Nigeria (12 June), South Korea (17 June), and Greece (22 June).

The shirt is supplied by Adidas and will be used until 2012. The actual colour of the shirt is darker than what was shown in the leaked pictures. The shirt features a dark blue colour, but has two slightly different tones, in vertical stripes throughout the shirt. The collar and sleeve edges are white, and so are the trademark Adidas stripes on the shoulders and sleeves. The shirt also has a sewn horizontal detail just above the bottom edge. On the top part of the back, the shirt has a detail with the sun which appears on the national flag. The complementary shorts will be white with three vertical stripes on the sides.

What are your first reactions regarding this shirt? We would like to know.

I like it, but I’m not sure they’ll get to use it at the World Cup, as few shirts clash with their home one.

I believe Greece have a blue home shirt and a white away one generally, that could prove an issue when they meet whatver kit Argentina wear.

  14. AtAlec said,

actually Greece usually has a white home kit and a blue(not dark) away!

  15. Jambo said,

Clash with the home kit?!! Argentina have always had blue away kits and they’ve never clashed before

Brilliant, the colour tone gives it some pop, crisp, clean – echoes of 86. Well done Adidas.
Ed, go back to your crayons – you make no sense fella.
