Walsall 2008/09 Kits Launched

Posted on June 26th, 2008 in Walsall by reddevilrooney

Having extended their sposorship deal with EasyFit Conservatories for another year, Walsall have officially unveiled their new home and away kits for the 2008/09 campaign. The Commercial Director of the Saddlers, Roy Whalley, expressed his delight at the sponsorship agreement:

“We are delighted to have EasyFit on board as shirt sponsors for the new campaign. EasyFit are the largest conservatory company in the Midlands and they are a Walsall-based company with major links to the local area. I would like to thank Mark Gibbins and Paul Wilding for this sponsorship and we are delighted to be working with them again.”

Last season, Walsall wore the traditional colour: white shirts and red shorts. In the 2008/09 season, Walsall will be playing in League One in the same traditional colours. The home shirt has white as the dominant colour, with red details on the shoulders extending to the sleeves, and around the chest. Shirt manufacturers Swift’s logo appears in red in the centre, below the circular red collar, while the club crest appears on the left. The badge commemorates the 120th anniversary of the Saddlers: a memorable milestone for the club and its proud fans. The shirt is complemented by white socks and red shorts, which has a white stripe on the side. 27-year old Saddlers defeder Rhys Weston is seen modelling the home strip (above).

For the first time in Walsall’s history, the team will be playing away games in black. The Saddlers’ away kit is dominantly black, with a red trim, which gives the shirt and the players a very smart and eye-catching look. Due to the details on the shirt, the commemorative badge had to be placed in the centre, while Swift’s logo also remains in the centre. The shirt is worn with black shorts and black socks, both of which have red details. The away kit is modelled by 19-year old striker Troy Deeney (above). In the event of colour clashes, an alternative red shorts and red socks have been designed for the club. Both kits will have the club’s nickname on the inside of the collar.

The yellow 3rd kit of 2007/08 will be retained for use in the event of colour clashes. Roy Whalley commented:

“The return to white home shirts was very popular last season. This design suited us so well during the 1960’s and 1970’s and has caught the imagination of the current generation of Saddlers’ supporters. The black away kit is something we have not tried before but I’m sure it will prove to be extremely popular.”

Shirts will go on sale as from early July. Prices have been set at £39.99 for adults and £24.99 for children. Special thanks for pointing out this kit launch goes to Walsall fan saddler13.

  6. John said,

Aye, it’s nice because they combined two great templates (Adidas and Diadora) all they had to do is put their tags on it.

Who is the kit manufacturer anyway?

  7. saddler13 said,

The make is a local company called Mann Brothers, who are based in West Brom. They are using the name ‘SWIFT’. I don’t mind the design, but I hope the material is of better quality than last years.
