Velez Sarfield Centenary Shirts 2010

Posted on February 7th, 2010 in Velez Sarsfield by reddevilrooney

Argentine club Velez Sarfield has unveiled the new home and away shirts for the 2010 season, which commemorate the club’s centenary. The club was founded on the 1st January 1910, and in their history, they have won the Primera Division Argentina 7 times, 6 of which came in the last two decades. Velez have won the Clausura 2009, but only managed 5th place in the 2009 Apertura. They are now participating in the 2010 Clausura, having gone unbeaten for the first three matches in the season (2 wins and 1 draw).

Penalty have supplied the club with an eye-catching design for these two special shirts. The shirt sponsors are Mondial Motocicletas, whose logo appears on the front as well as at the top of the back of the shirts. The template for both shirts is identical. The home shirt is white with a dark blue V on the chest, upon which there is the club crest with a star commemorating their single triumph in the Copa Libertadores 1994, as well as a special badge commemorating the centenary on the opposite side. There is the flag of Argentina at the top of the back of the shirt, and the text 100 Anos (Years) at the bottom. On the inside of the collar, there is a patch with red, white and green colours, and at the back of the collar, there’s the club nickname, ‘El Fortin’ which translates The Fort. The only difference for the away shirt is that its base colour is dark blue, with a white V and white sponsor logos.
