Uruguay: Club Atletico Penarol Shirts 2010

Club Atletico Penarol from Uruguay is best known for having won the Copa Libertadores five times (1960, 1961, 1966, 1982, 1987) and the Intercontinental Cup three times (1961, 1966, 1982). They have also won the league a total of 47 times when counting both the professional and the amateur eras. The team finished 7th in the 2008/09 season, but started the Torneo Clausura of 2010, which kicked off on the 23rd January with two wins from the first two matches.

The three shirts which the team will use for the entire 2010 campaign were unveiled at the club’s headquarters. The shirts are manufactured by German brand Puma and sponsored by Ancel. All the three shirts unveiled have a long black collar. The home shirt is all vertically striped in yellow and black, with 8 stars commemorating the team’s international triumphs. The home shirt has the text Carbonero at the back of the collar, which is the popular name for the club. The away shirt has a gold base colour and commemorates the club’s five Copa Libertadores wins. It has the text ‘C.A. Penarol’ at the back of the collar. The third shirt is divided in two. The right side of the body is black and the right sleeve is striped in black and yellow, while the left side of the body is vertically striped in black and yellow, with the left sleeve being black. At the back of the collar of the third shirt, there is the year when Penarol was founded, 1891.
