New Turkey Away Shirt 08/09
Here is the Nike produced Turkish away kit for the 2008/09 season and the European Championships this summer in Austria & Switzerland. Turkey qualified for the tournament out of Group C at the expense of Norway who were a point behind them in the final table.
The kit is a white with a blue/turquoise colour for the details. This includes around theĀ v-neck collar of the shirt and the Nike swoosh on the right chest. On the left chest is the Turkish flag in red. There is further detail on the back of the Turkey shirt with a blue curve from sleeve to sleeve.

Turkish fans are campaigning for a return to the classic white whirt with the red across the chest and many aren’t happy with this new away kit.

Cool! But it would be better with a red nike logo.
discusting
the ugliest jersey i have ever seen. what is wrong with nike? what was nike thinking?
change it, turkey can not possibly go in the turnament with this jersey.
i think turkey should switch to addidas
this could quite possibly be the plainest jersey i have ever seen
yeah i agree!!
worst design from nike…
go adidas!!!
adidas isnt much better than nike at the moment, but at least theyve changed their design! and yes the logo and collar should be red
very bad it doesnt represent Turkey go adidas at least they care about the fans feeling
i think it would be better if the nike logo and stripes was red
i think it would look a lot better if it was adidas and if the stripes was red.
Why blue?
turqouise IS in fact the turkish (osmanian) blue!!
It has a cultural background. And its just the away dress, lets wait for the home. And i guess dressed the kit will look very good
here it is with the shorts too:
I prefer Turkey with Cranberry sauce and those little sausages
This shirt separated Turkey into two parts, lovers & haters. Some say the kit must contain colours of our flag as always (red & white) and others think change is good. Turquoise means “Colour of the Turk” in french (or so they say) it is said that in medieval ages, only Turkish artists can paint ceramics in this colour. The european artists had tried so much to copy this colour but were unable to do so. A sportswriter Mehmet Demirkol first mentioned that Turkey must wear turquoise jerseys, a few months later manager Fatih Terim announced that the new away kit will include turquoise details. This jersey can be the beginning of a new era. It is planned to switch to a full turquoise shirt in a few years, and be recognized with this color like Azzuri of Italy and Orange of the Netherlands.
The first match is really important for Turkey and the future of the turquoise kit. Turks have a strange luck issue. When being beaten 8-0 by England in 1984 the Inonu stadium (the stadium of Besiktas JK
was marked as “The Unlucky Stadium” and not used for national matches for a long time. If Turkey loses their first match in this shirts it will also be cursed and unlucky.
So this shirt is a first, but it also can be the last. Anyway, although it’s not a very nice design in my humble opinion, it is a nice collectible.
i like turquoise because its pretty, i like red because its the colour of a turkey’s neck, but i dont really like turkey it tastes a bit too sweet for me.
