Thousands of football shirts from various Scottish clubs have been left outside Celtic Park as a tribute to Tommy Burns. These shirts have been handed over to a local charity called Glasgow the Caring City (GtCC) to be washed and sorted before being sent to Malawi, South Africa, Zambia and Uganda.

This is not the first time this has occurred when Jimmy Johnstone passed away more then 20,000 kits were donated to charity. GtCC were inspired by this and set up an international network of football coaching workshops across Africa, to provide hope and opportunity to thousands of children.

This was one of Tommy’s legacies to provide children with better lives it is wonderful to see his legacy continued. To finish is what a Celtic spokesperson had to say about Tommy:

“The tribute made to Tommy was simply phenomenal and the scene at Celtic Park was something which demonstrated the level of esteem and affection in which Tommy was held by so many people.

“He will forever be remembered by us all as a man of true compassion and it is fitting that these shirts will go to help others across the world who are less fortunate.”

You can also buy a Tommy Burns tribute T-Shirt. It is white with a picture of Tommy in the middle and the Celtic logo on the left hand side of the chest. It has the words ‘You’ll Always Be With Us’ printed under the picture in green. On the back ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ also in green.
