Swansea sign kit deal with Umbro

Swansea have announced a new kit deal with sports brand Umbro. The deal will see Umbro design the replica strip and all training gear for the next 3 years. It brings an end to their three year deal with Macron, this will be the first time Umbro have supplied Swansea with playing kits.

Swansea will be playing in the English Championship, their highest level in 24 years next season having clinched the League 1 title this season, Swansea’s vice chairman Leigh Dineen was quoted as saying: “Having clinched promotion to the Championship, UMBRO will help the club progress to a new level - on and off the field”.

    Well, I’m a Swansea fan and must say that of the 9 strips that Maron provided us with over the last years, 7 of them were top notch, totally unhindered by corporate templates, especially the green and black striped away kit this year. While it’s exciting to have a recognised top brand in umbro designing our kit, you can’t help wondering whether it was better the devil you know. We’ll see next season - I think Macron are designing Leeds’ kit from next year.

    Swansea were a bit naughty last week, removing their shirts and all wearing Macron sponsered T shirts, I bet Swansea.com weren’t too happy.

    As a Chelsea fan I think that the last few Umbro shirts were better than the Adidas ones.

    If you want to know what the shirt will look like see the Sunderland shirt and colour the red bits in white.
