Stoke City buy local clubs their football kit

Football teams from the Stoke-on-Trent area are to get a new kit courtesy of the government’s VAT cut. BBC reported that at least 100 football teams in the local leagues would benefit from the cause. Stoke City FC announced that the savings from the tax cut would be used to buy kits for sides in the area.

“Doing something in difficult times” was the event described by Tony Scholes, the club’s chief executive.

“Buying a football kit (for) lads’ football teams - it’s their major cost for the year,” he said.

“So by doing this hopefully we’ll be able to be a great help to a great number of junior teams.”
