Southampton have ended their own brand manufacturing policy that they have used since 1999 and gone with supplier Umbro until the end of the 2012/13 season. The deal will see Umbro making Southampton’s playing and training kit for the next five years. Details of the Saints’ new Umbro home & away strips for 2008/09 will be announced in the spring.

Simon Marsh, UMBRO’s Director of Football said:

“I’m delighted to have added Southampton Football Club to our existing portfolio of contracted clubs here in the UK. We created a strategy some two years ago which was geared towards creating a greater presence for the brand in its domestic market.

By securing a five year deal with Southampton FC will ensure the brand has a presence on the south coast for the foreseeable future and further enhances the brands geographical representation within the United Kingdom.”

Leighton Mitchell, Southampton FC’s Head of Retail said:

“We are delighted to be teaming up with a quality Sportswear manufacturer such as Umbro. They are without doubt one of the market leaders in kit design and innovation and the quality of their products is first class. They bring with them a wealth of experience as well as a football heritage that is second to none.”
