07/08 Shirt sponsorship revenue increases

It has been revealed from research done by Sport+Markt that the Premier league generates the most revenue from shirt sponsors conpared to all the football leagues in the world. In second place was Germany’s Bundesliga, third was Italy’s Serie A and fourth was Spain’s La Liga.

The research suggested that revenue from shirt sponsorship increased by 10.6% in the 2007/2008 season, this was an increase of €405 million of which the Premier league was responsible for €97.5 million

Looking at individual clubs Manchester United’s contract with AIG tops the list of shirt sponsorships with a €20.8 million deal. The second is Germany’s Bayern Munich with T-Mobile and the third is Spain’s Real Madrid with their €15 million contract with Bwin.
