Sheffield Wednesday fans choose the 2010/11 Away Shirt
The fans of Sheffield Wednesday have come up with their verdict regarding which design should be the club’s new away shirt for 2010/11. The club put forward three options for the fans to decide on: two were vertically striped in black and blue, and the other being all-black striped in yellow. The decision has been to opt for the black shirt. The shirt has yellow pinstripes, and yellow details on the underarms and bottom-sides. The logo of manufacturers Puma will be placed on the right side of the chest, while the logo of The Children’s Hospital, which is mainly yellow, matches the shirt colours perfectly.
Many clubs have been going down this road when deciding on their new shirt designs. It is a way to give fans a say, but the club cannot please everyone, and there will always be a percentage of fans that are unhappy as the shirt design was not their favourite. Others would appreciate that the club listened to them before deciding and would accept the decision of the majority. In the case of Sheffield Wednesday, the winning design did not obtain an absolute majority vote (50%+1) but 46% of the 4231 votes cast (1935 votes). The other designs share the other votes almost equally. The complementary shorts for the chosen shirt will be black. The club thanks all participating fans.
