Seattle Sounders Home jersey 2009
Seattle Sounders, who will play in America’s MLS for the first time in 2009, have revealed their home shirt that will be used along with the shirts sponsor. Microsofts Xbox Live.
The shirt will be primarily green, which is the traditional colour for sporting teams in Seattle. with a secondary colour of blue running down the sides of the shirt and underneath the collar. The clubs logo is on the left of the shirt and the makers, Adidas, have their logo on the top centre, underneath the collar, and the adidas three stripes running down both sleeves in white. The sponsor, Xbox 360 Live, is written across the middle of the shirt in white.
I hate the names that the MLS clubs have. But I suppose the shirt is alright considering the ugly colours.
Only one word can describe it. Horrible
The green should be changed to a better shade and the blue should be orange like xbox live is.
Well living in the U.S. and having to deal with the “Top Flight” the States calls MLS, I hate the fact that the league controls everything, while the teams don’t even get to ok there kits. Sad, and they wonder why the rest of the world laughs at us, well that and we call it Soccer.
Tom- the Sounders name actually dates back to the NASL in the 1970s. It’s the traditional soccer/football name in town.
The fans of the team fought very hard to keep the Sounders name. Not a great name in and of itself, but it carries some tradition with it.

There is no relegation in the MLS. They are expanding the league by adding a new team every couple of years. Next up after Seattle is Philadelphia. They will probably stop when they get to 20 teams (right now, not including Seattle and Philly, they have 14 teams).
This shirt is… unusual. There have been some great US club names, that had the NASL stayed on its feet would now be world famous. The Cosmos, of course. Atlanta Chiefs, Chicago Sting, Toronto Blizzard, Dallas Tornado, LA Aztecs, Washington Diplomats, Minnesota Kicks, Portland Timbers, San Diego Sockers, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Tulsa Roughnecks, Seattle Sounders,
If things had panned out differently back then they’d be as famous as more normal named clubs around the world such as Grasshopper Zurich, Colo Colo, Borussia Moenchengladbach or Tottenham Hotspur…
A ton of tradition and equity behind the colors and name. Seattle is a fantastic soccer city. Expected 60,000 to watch Brazil plat Canada in 2 days here! I use to attend Sounders games in the 70’s-80’s when attendance averaged over 30,000. The time is ripe. ON THE SOUNDERS!!!

The Seahawks, who are based in Seattle, in NFL wear a marine-blue and green so it must be the area’s colour so to speak. I actually really like this kit also. Might buy it.

I saw Freddie Ljungberg this week in the shirt of the sounders, and I love it. I think that many people in Europe would buy the shirt, because the sponsor name of Xbox live on it. If someone knows where I can buy it please let me know, thanks.

Being from Seattle, I have long anguished in the totally lame colors our teams have to wear. Although, the Green and Yellow Sonics was pretty alright. But the Sounders is a great name. A name with long history. 20+ years ago they were my favorite soccer team. While I’ll be pressed to buy the **** jersey with those **** colors, I’ll do it to wear the Sounders name with pride. I reckon in a few years they will have an ‘away’ kit that has a white jersey. . .

I’m from London and I just started supporting Seattle in their first MLS season (mainly because of Freddie Ljunberg, but also because I love Seattle). Loving them so far! More entertaining than most of the Premiership (UK) teams even on their best day! Personally, I like the colours of the kit. They are unusual, and suit the name.
