Santa Cruz New Kits 2008/09
For all those of you who haven’t heard the name of this club before, it is a team from Brazil playing in Serie C Brazilian Championship, the third tier of Brazilian football. Last season, they were relegated from Serie B after obtaining just 42 points with a goal difference of -18. The club is based in Recife in Brazil, the fifth largest Metropolitan city in Brazil, situated in the north-east region. The club was founded on the 3rd February 1914 by some youths aged between 14 and 16. Since then, it has grown rapidly and turned into a professional club. The club’s glory days were the 60s and 70s, when Santa Cruz gained great popularity. They are well known partly because all-time legend Pele made his 1000th career appearance in a match against the club. Santa Cruz were crowned 3 times State Super-Champions and 24 times State Champions. All these honours are shown around the club’s crest on the shirts.

As can be seen from the above picture, the home shirt is white with two horizontal stripes (red and black) in the middle. It is worn with white shorts and black socks. The home kit is modelled by the girl on the left, having vertical red and black alternating stripes, flanked by narrower white stripes. It has a V-neck collar and is worn with black shorts and white socks. The third kit is modelled by the girl on the right, with the difference being that the red and black stripes are horizontal. It is also worn with black shorts but the socks are black. The club crest is on the socks, shorts and shirt. Also in the same unveiling event, the training garments as well as a grey goalkeeper shirt were unveiled. These can be viewed below:

This shirt is spoilt by the sponsors. If you remove the ads, reduce the badge size, you are left with a nice home shirt and an interesting hooped shirt.
