Rubin Kazan sign deal with Umbro for 2010/12
Rubin Kazan has officially signed a new shirt manufacturing deal with Umbro. The club, which is one of the two Russian clubs participating in this year’s edition of the UEFA Champions League, is presently sponsored by American sportswear giant Nike until the end of this season. Their shirts will start being manufactured by Nike’s subsidiary company Umbro, based in the UK. The deal will last until 2012, and was announced in a ceremony held at the Tatar-inform Agency. The team captain of the Russian Champions, Sergei Semak, hopes that the new Umbro shirts will be comfortable and bring luck to the club. ABM SPORT, the Umbro representative in Russia, stated that the new shirt will be unique and manufactured using the latest advanced football shirt technology.
The comments of Eugeny Golov, the Director General of Rubin Kazan, were:
“We are Russian Champions; we represent our country in European cups. So, we need better conditions for our infrastructure. We have three professional teams and a sport school where over 1000 children are trained. It is a chance for us to provide so many people with a good-quality outfit of a single colour range. That’s why we have chosen UMBRO company. I hope our cooperation will be long-term, and footballers wearing this brand both in Russia and Europe will be satisfied.”

Moreover, we can also bring you a leaked picture of what could be the future Rubin Kazan home shirt by Umbro. The current dark red colour is retained, and the shirt will have a white collar and sleeve-edges. Two curved stripes will extend vertically down from the shoulders of the new home shirt, contrasting with the current shirt which has an absence of details.
We want to express our gratitude to Oleg for this news, and for other news from Russia.
