Rubin Kazan 2009/10 Nike Away Kit
Rubin Kazan is the reigning champion of the Russian Premier League, and one of Russia’s two representatives (the other being CSKA Moscow which were runners-up in the 2008 Premier League) in the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League. No one expected them to draw an easy group in the top European competition, but in actual fact, being drawn in Group F proved to be the exact opposite. They were drawn against Spanish Champions Barcelona, Italian Champions Inter, and Ukrainian Champions Dynamo Kyiv, in what is certainly one of the toughest groups in the competition. Rubin Kazan started matchday 1 with a loss against Dynamo Kyiv (3-1), and continued with a 1-1 draw against Inter. However, no one was expecting the result the team obtained in Matchday 3 against La Liga Champions Barcelona at the Nou Camp: a 2-1 away win against the holders of the European competition. An early goal from Ryazantsev was neutralised by Ibrahimovic’s strike in the 2nd half, but later on, a goal from Gokdeniz Karadeniz ensured victory for the Russian visitors.

In this match, the team was using their new Nike away shirt for the first time. The basic colour of the new away kit remains green, and this includes the shirt, shorts and socks. Their previous shirt was also green but had white details on the collar and sleeves. These have been removed for the new away shirt which is all green with the absence of any other details. What better way to celebrate a new away kit than winning against the European Champions while wearing it for the first time?
We thank our Russian informant for the news.

Nice colour and sponsor
Rubins Kazan appear to have exactly the same home and away shirts for the past 4 years. Nike, round collar, dark red or green. Same sponsor too. *Yawns*
@ Anthony
The current Rubin home and away kits (with round collar and white trim) are in use from the start of 2008 season.
