Rovers fan after shirt donations for Gambia
Often you can hear about people and organisations helping out the African continent with football clothing but Rovers fan Ian Wiggans is after much more than that he is trying to convert a whole nation.
Ian is a regular visitor to Gambia and was sick and tried of seeing beach sellers and local’s all wearing rival kits.
Ian who has been visiting Gambia for the past 8 years has given out Rovers gear on each visit.
His last visit was a success with Ian being able to fully kit a village football team with shirts formally worn by Blackburn Rovers Ladies team.
The Wiggans head over to Gambia on March 9 and are looking to take many more Rovers shirts with team with the help of the public via donations.
“This time though we have a private sponsor who is funding the extra baggage we will be taking as we are hoping the kind people of Blackburn will be able to assist us in donating any old Rovers kits they no longer need.”
“I am hoping to kit out another football team or two and more of the beach workers so that the sand mentioned in holiday brochures will be described as blue and white instead of golden!”
Ian is very committed to his cause and has organised with the bosses at Ewood Park to allow shirts to be dropped off at the club shop until February 28.

A man after my own heart. Keep up the good work.
