Republic of Ireland Home shirt 10/12

Posted on February 15th, 2010 in Ireland by Ben1991

Umbro have officially unveiled the new Ireland Home Kit 2010 at Carroll’s FAI Store, Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2.The kit has been given a complete makeover with a darker shade of green or ‘St Patrick’s Green’, a new version of the FAI crest trimmed in gold, gold seam detail and a new anatomical design which brings together performance and style.

The shirt is mainly all Ireland’s traditional Green colour. There is a white v-neck collar and white piping down the sides of the shirt and around the ends of the sleeves. The team badge is on the left of the shirt and the makers have their logo on the right in white. The sponsors have their name and logo in the centre of the shirt. The shirrtwill be worn with white shorts and gren and white hooped socks.

Commenting on the new kit Lorcan O’Connor, Director of Carroll’s FAI Store, said “The new kit is like nothing we have ever seen before, it is a fusion of anatomical design and traditional tailoring. The overall look takes inspiration from vintage Irish kits and pays homage to the past in terms of the heritage of Irish teams and an understanding of “What It Means” to be Irish. UMBRO has developed a modern uniform with a familiar look, which I am sure Irish fans will be proud of.”

The new home kit will be worn for the first time on 2nd March when the Republic of Ireland face Brazil in a friendly at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and will be available for purchase from the 11th March from Carroll’s FAI Store, Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2 and online from the team store.

Don’t know who cares about the jacket, yes it’s nice, but the main theme is the shirt… nice shirt, very classic, but not as nice as the jacket LOL

WTF with a sponsor on a national team shirt?!? You don’t play for Eircom, you play for Ireland. I am glad this bunch are not going to the World Cup!

and why are we not at th wc, coz of a cheat, and a stupid decision, to be honest thats the way it goes. sure if it wasnt coz of handballs i wuold never of laughed so much at diego GOD maradona punching the ball past the english keeper, so its worth it.
for me the best thing about world cups is watching the english media and people big up themselves as usual, then when it cums down to actually playin a half decent team, they crumble to the little pieces of **** they are, happens every time i love it!

really like it, hope the new rangers kit will be like this, but in blue, of course.

maybe without the white bits down the sides as well

gaz71 Ireland have always had sponsors on there replica shirts..going back to Opel in the 80’s/90’s. They wont wear the sponsor for competetive games though

Just speculating, but maybe because the FAI don’t have as big a budget as England do, having Eircom’s logo on the replica shirts gives them a bit more money. Gorgeous shirt. Think we’ve got a better deal from the retro theme than England have

    Nice shirt, very nice but…

Shocking badge quailty, simply shocking, the design is naff and it looks like it was stitched by me grandma! Dunno whether thats down to Umbro or not but it looks real tacky.

Plus the sponsor makes it look like a Rugby shirt and ruins the whole thing, even if the badge was up to scratch.

Excellent colour/design ruined by the above points, this could have been a truely awsome shirt.

Think this is pure class. Agree about the sponsors logo but as quite rightly pointed out, the national team won’t have it on their shirts so no harm done.

Great modern design in the style on England and Man City but with a classic feel. Its all looking good for my teams next design!!! Well done Umbro

yes maradonna’s handball was in the world cup finals, not a play off from the qualify groups ;) and come back when you’ve won a world cup :)

the sponsor issue is not an ireland/england thing. it’s an ireland/rest of the worlds thing. i’m irish but i’m embarassed to say that i can’t think of a single other country in world who’s national team shirt i can’t buy without a sponsor/logo. it’s nothing to do with wealth…can’t think of african, south american, asian countries who’s replica shirt contains the sponsor…it’s the usual thing with us. fai are a bunch incompetant sell out unprofessional muppets.

  19. Celticpaddy said,

Lads you will be able get the kit without the sponsor as well,as you have been with all the others so dont worry about it

  20. brn442 said,

Another lovely example of Umbro’s new love affair with “fine tailoring”

And yes, again “the sponsor”. The thought the point of calling the shirt a replica is because it replicates the original. IT’S A COMPLETE RIP-OFF to expect fans to pay 50 pounds for a sponsor that’s (thankfully) not on the match shirt.

There are federations whose countries could barely feed its people but resist putting a sponsor on, yet a relatively well – off FAI (who ironically has UK based clubs bearing the lion’s share developing their young players anyway) has no problem doing so.

For the muppets in the FAI who think the front of your national team shirt has a price: I’m happy you’re not in South Africa. Shame ’cause the fans from Eire derserve better.

  21. Celticpaddy said,

Not sure about the part on us missing out on the world cup brn442 but point well said on the FAI, fans and players do derserve alot better indeed

  22. CHriSTy said,

it looks like an old northern ireland jersey.its ludicrously boring and im even going to say the shirt is as good as robbie keane.he even calls himself a professional soccer player.

another nice ireland shirt destroyed with the eircom blob, why cant they just leave it off the home and away shirts, training shirts and jumpers i dont mind with the sponsor, but thats it,look at any other country, its like wer buying a fake shirt, when the players wear the shirt there is no sponsor, yet we have to go and pay good money on a shirt that the players dont even wear, something has to be done umbro would sell more shirts if they took the blob off the shirt, but they are too stupid to see, typical of this backwards country,

  25. Our Wee Country said,

What a pile of fuc.king sh.ite … The new Northern Ireland kit is miles better looking. Thank God Henry handled that ball and put the TIMS out of the World Cup
