Puma to bid for Umbro?

There are rumours of a Puma making a bid for Umbro in the financial markets, traders think that the German company, the world’s third largest maker of sportswear and equipment with a market value of around £3.25billion could be lining up a bid.

English sportswear & equipment company Umbro saw share trading that was six times its normal levels yesterday. Umbro have recently tied up new shirt deals for the 2007/2008 season which include West Ham United, Sunderland & Hull City, Umbro also manufacture the England national shirt which was unveiled in February.

Umbro’s market capitalisation is a mere £232m compared to Puma’s who are only smaller than Nike & Adidas, Puma turnover £1.9bn last year and supplied kits to 12 national team’s including Italy who won the World Cup.

    i hope umbro are not brought over. umbro are the best english manufacturer except for the retro admiral kits yea puma should re-make retro admiral kits for teams
