PLSC Semi-Finals – Who will make it to the final?

Posted on March 7th, 2010 in Premier League Shirts Cup by zebra10

The Semi-Finals of our Premier League Shirts Cup open up today with voting running for 2 weeks. The first semi-final sees Burnley’s shirts go head to head against Blackburn. The winner of this semi-final will face either Manchester City or West Ham’s shirts.  Burnley are the only team who have their shirts manufactured by errea in the Premier League whilst Blackburn have their shirts manufactured by umbro who are the shirt manufacturers of six Premier League teams.

Burnley’s Shirts are manufactured by errea and the latter even allowed for the club not to feature the errea logo on the home shirt as to replicate the 1959/60 kit to commemorate the winning of the Football League Championship. A very classic claret and blue home shirt with a very plain white away shirt again featuring though the club’s claret and light blue colours.

Blackburn’s shirts are manufactured by Umbro. The club’s home shirt is split into two halves, white and blue. The collar and the sleeve ends are red, white and blue.

The away shirt is on the other hand mainly white but again featuring blue and red as these are the club’s traditional colours.

The second semi-final sees West Ham face Manchester City’s shirts in an all Umbro semi-final.

West Ham’s shirts are also manufactured by Umbro. The home shirt features a chequered pattern and is mainly claret featuring light blue touches.

The club’s away shirt is mainly navy blue with a light blue vertical sash on the front of the shirt. The collar is a round light blue one with a thin white line running through.

Manchester City have their kits also manufactured by Umbro. Their home kit is quite plain and simple, being mainly light blue and featuring a white round collar. The club’s away shirt is mainly black with a touch of gold.

Who’s shirts deserve a place in our Premier League Shirts Cup final?

Blackburn vs Burnley

West Ham vs Manchester City

They should be winning, burnley’s kit is terrible, and so are most of these, how can people like the chequered pattern in the hammers shirt and the hopeless colours of burnley, there are much better kits than this

vote for rovers , blue and white halves are like nothing else.

Rovers by far ahead of the Sunday league kits of Burnley

Lets not get into that stupid club bias – it’s about the design.

Blackburn’s away kit is a stupid colour considering the amount of white on the home shirt. They are both poor designs too. West Hams kits are awful.

Burnley and City have the best kits in the league this year, they are far and away better than the Blackburn and Hammers kits, how they got this far is beyond me.

The Rovers have worn their unique halved shirts for 135 years, whilst Burnley have never really made their minds up – a few years ago they ran out in claret and blue quarters, but started off in blue and white stripes, then red and yellow, then green, before going for the current claret. They even had pink and white stripes once!

Vinjay having halved shirts is not unique to Rovers due to the fact that of the top of my head i can think of another team this year that have halved shirts that would be Bury. If thats not good enough for you in the history of kits teams that have had halved shirts are as follows.
Bury from their inception in 1885, Man United as Newton Heath from their inception in 1878, Everton in 1881, Notts County in 1888, and Aston Villa in 1892 all of these teams had halved kits for a quite a while. Also you cant even say that Rovers were copied as both Rovers and United started wearing Halved shirts in 1878. Sorry to correct you but i dont like to see words being used incorrectly Rovers having halved shirts is not in any way unique.

Oh and I think the City kits are the best this year By a million miles.

Halved shirts are just rugby shirts due to the fact most football teams used to play rugby.

It’s about time Rovers got with the times and started to play in a football shirt.
